Midway Plantation is a historic southern plantation built in 1785 by Revolutionary War Colonel Thomson as a wedding present for his son William Russell Thomson. Named for the location ''midway'' between Colonel Thomson's plantation and the Bride's family plantation, the property encompasses 37.4 acres and is surrounded by luscious gardens of grand oaks, camellias, magnolias, pecans and pines. The main house was modified in the mid 1850's and again in 1879. The present house is a two-story antebellum frame building with both Greek Revival and Federal influences.
