Own a piece of history on Sullivan's Island! This is one of only four residences known as The Commissary which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places under the Fort Moultrie Historic District. Modern era conveniences like new lighting, tile, granite, & stainless appliances complement the original support timbers & patinated wood floors. Lots of light on the main floor for an open living/dining area plus an office/guest room and full bath. An updated kitchen overlooks the rear patio. Upstairs, discover two bedrooms with exposed beams, a sitting area and sophisticated full bathroom with dual vanities. Off-street parking and storage underneath is perfect for all beach toys & vehicles. SIES, the beach, biz district, boat ramp, & Fort are all less than a mile away!

While this home may seem like the ideal weekend escape or second home, many residents have enjoyed it (and still do) as their full time residence. The location on the island is ideal because it's so close to everything and a regime is in place to manage the common areas. The back patio is a nice shady spot to relax and you walk around the corner to enjoy a view of Cove Creek - or across the street to the Nature Trail behind Battery Logan. The Commissary on Sullivan's Island represents a rare & unique opportunity to invest in a piece of U.S. history with ties dating back to the American Revolution as part of the Fort Moultrie Quartermaster & Support Facilities Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Fort Moultrie is where the British were turned away by American Revolutionary forces when it was just a bunker of sand and palmetto trees, saving Charleston from British occupation. It later played a role in the Spanish-American War and then, more notably, became the first battleground for the Civil War when Confederate troops fired upon Fort Sumter across the Charleston Harbor. The Commissary is believed to have been built by the Quartermaster Corp. as a service facility for Fort Moultrie during it's expansion era of 1897 - 1947. According the National Register of Historic Places, "The Quartermaster facilities were grouped toward the center of the fort. The Quartermaster and Support facilities Historic District includes ten contributing resources constructed between circa 1900 and 1930 to serve Fort Moultrie. Included in the district are a Non-Commissioned Officers' Club, the Post Theatre, a Commissary Storehouse, a Barracks, Ordnance Storage and Office, two Quartermaster's Warehouses, Dispensary/Provost Marshall's Office, Quartermaster's Office, and the Quartermaster's Dock. Listed in the National Register September 6, 2007." The Commissary was converted to private residences when the Fort was deactivated. Around 2014, the residences were completely renovated and converted to condominiums allowing for individuals to own each residence privately.
